About Helen Mclean

Helen McLean

Alongside private exhibition work, I have worked on a variety of projects. The majority of the projects have been for architectural or community environments and, as such, required collaboration with committees, architects and with other artists.

Over the last four years the major part of my work has involved designing and creating site specific artwork created in mosaic and glass with collaboration with studios in Italy and Germany. All the projects I have been involved with have required in general sensitivity to the needs of the client and a collaborative process. In particular community based projects have required an understanding of the needs and abilities of each group to create artwork that encompasses their experiences and abilities in some way.

My architectural-sited pieces involved frequent meetings and discussions with committees and architects, collaborating to design a unique piece that fits with the space and the people who use the space.
